Parents

At Meta, we support parents, caregivers and educators with policies, resources and tools that help protect the safety and well-being of young people online.

Our commitment to child protection

Led by a comprehensive set of Community Standards, Meta has zero-tolerance rules prohibiting abuse and policies that place importance on your child's safety. Our cutting-edge technologies prevent, detect and remove violations, and you can report harmful content at any time. We also offer resources and support for families to safely navigate online technologies.

Family Center resources

We want to support parents and caregivers as they guide their teens' online experiences. We've worked with experts to build a collection of resources that foster conversations between caregivers and teens as they navigate and develop online safety habits.

Safety tools

In addition to policies and resources, we offer tools to help keep young people safe online. Understand how our security and privacy tools can improve online safety.

Supervision tools and resources

We’re investing in tools and resources designed to support parents, caregivers and teens in VR and on Instagram. We’re rolling out parental supervision tools to all Meta Quest headsets. On Instagram, parents and caregivers can now:

  • Send invitations to their teens to initiate supervision tools.
  • Set specific times during the day or week when they would like to limit their teen’s use of Instagram.
  • See more information when their teen reports an account or post, including who was reported and the type of report.

We’re also adding features to help teens better manage their time on Instagram with new nudges and reminders to use Take a Break.

Bullying prevention

Bullying and harassment are not allowed on Meta technologies. We work to prevent and address abuses and offer tools that put you in control of your experience.

Digital wellness

Digital wellness is part of your family's overall health. For expert-backed advice on media usage by child age group, see our guide developed with the Digital Wellness Lab at Boston Children's Hospital. Each section includes actionable tips for common media-related health concerns, complemented by science-based context.

Expert advisors

We collaborate with leading experts, trusted organizations, parents and young people in our shared mission to build positive online experiences for families. We provide age-appropriate safeguards and constantly explore innovative technologies to help keep youth safe.

Meta's Youth Advisors are a group of experts in the fields of online safety, child development and children’s media who share their expertise, research and guidance. Youth Advisors helps shape our work by providing feedback on the development of new products and policies for young people. We also co-design workshops with parents and teens to get feedback and guidance that helps us build better products.
